Two Green Doors

Just wanted to pop in and say hello! I have not abandoned this blog, even though it may seem like it with the infrequency of my entries. Conversely, I have been thinking about it a ton, and I have so many ideas for content I’d like to share. Sadly I just haven’t had the time to execute these ideas. Honestly, I don’t understand how some bloggers manage to tend to their blogs so diligently. It blows my mind!

Apologies for the lame update about updating. How meta of me. Real content to come soon!

Same time, Last Year.

This time last year Phil and I were on a train from Montreal to Toronto with our friend Evan to look at potential neighborhoods to move into. It was a pretty great trip, full of sight-seeing, get togethers with friends and surprisingly, lots of partying. Looking back at everything that has happened between that trip to now is a little overwhelming. Amazing how much can change in one short year. read more »

Penthouse Shoot

Last week I had the pleasure of making up and shooting the lovely, humorous, and intriguing Elizabeth De Vries. Coincidentally, Beth happens to live two floors above me, so we decided to have the shoot on our top level. Upon entering the pool room, there were perfect streaks of sunlight coming in through the glass, but about 3 minutes into shooting an enormous storm began brewing to the North, and fast began to approach. I’m quite pleased about it, though, as I find it created a far more alluring mood to work with. These were shot using my trusty Pentax Asahi, with Kodak Portra 400 film. Shooting with Beth was a lot of fun, and I hope her and I can collaborate again in the future…maybe a snowy winter shoot?

Two Block Radius

My dad used to always call large cities “depressing concrete cities”. Toronto is probably no exception in a lot of people’s opinion. Since moving here, though, I have discovered so many beautiful and charming works of architecture, as well as many great green spaces/greenery. All that are shown in this entry were within a two block radius of the downtown high rise where Phil and I reside. I captured these photos yesterday and today with my noisy little Ricoh point and shoot.

My friend Elena Potter  had a very splendid housewarming party back at the end of June. She always manages to find the most charming homes, and I adore her personal interior decorating style. It’s very classic, elegant, yet never overwhelming. Elena combines just the right amount of old with new (and she somehow always manages to find homes with clawfoot tubs!). The following are some photographs I took at her party with my Pentax Asahi on Kodak Portra 400 VC film. I am so saddened that Kodak no longer manufactures VC and NC films; they were the best! I managed to shoot these on my very last role. Enjoy!

Greenhouse Photo Shoot

Recently, the lovely and talented Jessie Thavonekham came to visit Philippe and I in Toronto for a long weekend full of fun and dynamic activities. On her last day here I was able to sweep her away for a photo shoot at the Allan Gardens greenhouse, which happens to be just a few blocks away from where we reside. The goal of the shoot was to practice and showcase my abilities with makeup, styling, and photography. Not to mention, to have fun! It was all shot on my Pentax Asahi SP 1000 camera, with Kodak Portra 400 VC.  I think the shoot was a complete success, so without further ado, here are the results!
