Catriarchy Calls

I tried to start a comic last summer titled Catriarchy when we’d just moved to Toronto, but didn’t get very far (at all). I think I may try again soon. Based on true stories!

You can tell I was experimenting quite a lot to try to get a feel for a style. Sticking to one way of drawing/colouring is incredibly difficult (see also: nearly impossible) for me to do. Also, all the steps it took to get to a finished comic were too many for my patience. But hey, I’m expecting a new tablet any day now, which would eliminate many of those steps!

p.s. I have no clue what’s up with the first image. I keep saving it as a png to eliminate the background clutter, but it keeps showing it anyhow once it’s uploaded. And I shrug.

Montreal Cats

During our vacation in Montreal last week, Phil and I had the pleasure of staying at multiple friends’ homes. Everyone we stayed with owned cats, so our trip was full of cute! Here are some photos of them all.null

Month of Monochrome

Happy new year everyone! To kick off 2012 I’ve decided to challenge myself to a month of shooting monochrome. This doesn’t mean that I will be excluding colour photography altogether, but that I must take at least one monochromatic photograph each day. I will try to update once every week with the fruitions of my efforts. For today, though, I thought I’d start easy with my most willing models. That last photo cracks me up every time I look at it, heh.

Furthermore, I want to get on top of being proactive in other art departments. I fervently miss painting and drawing and plan on delving into that world once again. I’d call it my new years resolution, but really, I’ve been planning on immersing myself in it once again for a while now. Here’s to hoping that I can keep to that plan!

Up High, Down Below

Just thought I’d share some silly end-of-the-roll photographs from my Ricoh. They are nitty-gritty, and not at all glamourous. I like that about them, that they’re so honest. These were taken in August-September, and my oh my has Elizabeth ever grown since then!

Newest Family Member.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Elizabeth Cleopatra Bear. We’ve been calling her Eli (pronounced Elle-y) -Bear or Eliza-Bear for ¬†short, though. Born on April 26th, 2011, she is only 12.5 weeks old and extremely tiny, just about 2lbs! Though Adelaide has been growling and hissing at her since we brought her home yesterday, she has also been very gentle, not even taking a swipe, so we’re hopeful they’ll be friends soon. I’m assuming once Elizabeth smells more like home Ada will be more accepting too. As it stands, it is clear that Eli-Bear wants to be friends with Ada Bear, but will have to be a little more patient. read more »
